Time Flies!

Well the weekend once again has come and gone before I even knew it was here. Friday night I left from work to go and get my little guy (Johnathan) from the camp he's wokring at for the summer. It's about an hour and fifteen minutes or so to where he is from my house. It was an awesome drive on the way home, we listened to New Kids on The Block and Bobby Brown the whole way, he wasn't thrilled but I was! We had a good talk to. I've missed him, even though he'll soon be 18, he's still my little guy! I can't beleive how much he's growing up. The one thing I love more then anything about him, is no matter how grown up he is becoming, he never hesitates to say "I love you Schnoo".
So we went to a movie Friday night, "You, Me and Dupree" it was okay it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. But I adore Kate Hudson so I dragged Jay with me, knowing Scott wouldn't like it. We got home pretty late, Jay fell asleep on the way to my house from the theater. And we were up bright and early Saturday morning to meet mom and dad at the Tim Hortons off the highway so they could take him to London and where he'll be living while attending the Univeristy there.
Sunday I went into Brampton to see mom and dad, while we were at lunch mom got a call to go the airport so they could meet the refugees coming into Toronto. They were there all night until 4am.
So this weekend once again i'll be going into Brampton. Only because my little sister is being a big suck and has guilted me into it.
Scott and I have decided that we're going to Shampoo our carpets this weekend, well I decide d that we're going to Shampoo the carpets and that he is going to do most of it. What a fun way to spend the long weekend... I hate being grown up!
I've also decided due to the recent heat wave that I am going to get a pool put in. I hate the heat! I become totally unbareable in the heat! I hate it with a passion I will take the bitter cold ANY day, over the heat. I'm just a little concerned about the dog and the pool I don't want him jumping in and ripping the pool or liner or whatever. Then I'll REALLY be unbareable.
Well I should get back to work, have a great week talk to you soon!

Can men and women be just friends??

Okay so the last few days I have been having some debates with various people and I'm going through this one out there and I want some serious HONEST feedback.
Can men and women really be JUST friends?
The reason I ask is because I believe they can.
I have many, MANY friends of the opposit sex. Great friends that are men. Now where my problem seems to lie is that people don't agree that we can hang out and spend time together and be just friends. They say that that's more like dating. Now isn't this a double standard? Why is it I can hang out with my girlfriend(s) go for dinner or drinks or shopping or whatever, yet I can't do the same things with a guy friend? Somebody please explain this logic to me? Am I allowed to have friends that are guys, but not allowed to talk to them on the phone, or see them once a week for dinner or hang out with them at their place, or go to a movie, or the mall? Am I allowed to be "friends" with them as long as I never see them? Cause that's not how a friendship works in my eyes. My friends are important to be regardless of their sex and I love each and every one of them the same, so tell me why I should have to treat them any different??

Friends...

So I've been thinking these past few days about how truely lucky I am. I don't know or understand how it is I have so many wonderful people in my life, but I am so thankful and lucky to be able to say that I really do have a great circle of friends and family around me. They say you only ever have really 1 great friend in life, and if you have two then you're pretty damn lucky. Well I must have been born with a 4 leaf clover because I have whole lot more then 2 that I can honestly say are great friends! When I think back over the years at the people who have come and gone in my life there really aren't many. Those that have come and gone have really just been boyfriends and well yeah we'll just leave that one alone. But the friends I've had over the years, the real friends have always been there and are still there.
I guess with one of my friends leaving for Portugul yesterday and being gone for three weeks it made me think about it. I really am lucky. I probably have at least 5 great friends. Not acquiences, or "friends", but really truely GREAT friends.
Steph has most definitly been my longest, truest, and bestest friend. I can't believe that we've been friends for nearly 20 years. I know!!! We met when I was 8. I'm going to be 27 in afew months, how insane is that?!?!? How many people out there seriously have someone that they can say they've been bestfriends with for 20 years??? Especially when they aren't even 30 yet?!?!? Wow 20 years... How many moves, how many boyfriends, how many groundings, how many camps, how many hockey games in those 20 years?... We are definitely NOT friends. Friends can't even come close to explaining a relationship like that. We are with out a doubt family.
Then there is Jaymes who I consider a brother more then a friend. Jaymes has been a great support to both me and my brother Tim. Its a little odd to alot of people considering he was actually my big sis's highschool boyfriend, but we've kept in touch and when I'm home I always see him. Jaymes is someone I know I can count on at all times for everything and anything. I can't tell you how many trips to and from Windsor he kept me company on, how many moves he helped me with, and how many "boys" he threatened if they ever hurt me.
And then there are the ones that I haven't known for 10 or 20 years, but feel like I have, and feel like family.
Case in point Matt and Tanya. Matt and Tanya are like brother and sister to Scott and I. Friends dosen't really cut it when refering to them. In the two years that I've known them they have been so much more then a friend to me and Scott alike. Although Scott has known Matt for 11 years, and Tanya for almost 4 I feel as though we've known them much longer. Matt and Tanya are always there no matter what it is we need. Tanya is the reason I have such an awesome job, and Scott and I are finally on the same work schedule. When you can work all week with someone and then still want to hang out on the weekends together, you know it's a good friendship you got going on there.
So that's what 4? Well there are more.... definitly more but They all know who they are.
Anyway Just want you ALL to know how much I love, and treasure each and everyone of you. No matter the distance I think of you all often and love you all so much!

Already Monday?!?!?!

Well the weekend is over already, can you believe that? And to think the month is nearly over as well. Honestly, where is the time going???
This past weekend was an interesting one. I think the camping weekend really really caught up to me. Thursday night I was in bed at 9:00 and slept through the night, Friday night Tanya came over after work while the guys were golfing and when they got back we had a fire in the back yard and just relaxed with a few beverages..
Saturday I ended up sleeping until 11! When I finally did get up I went to the new "Superstore" I have never been terrifed of shopping in my entire life, but this grocery/pharamacy/dry cleaners. photolab/clothing/housewares/appliances store was HUGE! It was the size of the mall no joking! I couldn't beleive it! When I finally did get home from it I made brunch for Scott and I, bacon, pancakes, toast, eggs and hashbrowns. I don't noramlly do this kind of thing, usually I'll make pancakes OR bacon and eggs, but I was feeling in the mood for a little of everything and anyone who knows Scott knows he can certainly eat everything. I can't figure out how he stays so thin and fit and literally eats every day like he's never seen nor will again Food.
Anyway Sunday Matt called around noon to see if maybe we wanted to go golfing. This is the first time the guys have invited the girls (Tanya and I) golfing with them so we said sure. I figured we go and make their game so long and frustrating that they'd never ask us to go again, BUT it ended up being that we had a great time. It was a small course just a Par 3 and if you can believe it I got TWO birdies! I know!!! My dad would be so impressed! I've now decided that I'm going to do this golfing thing more often. I think I'm going to try and go at least every other week! BUT only the small courses. I don't think I could do the large regular sort of course. I am after all a girl! Anyway it started to just down pour when we hit the 12th hole. We got completely soaked so that was it for the game which is really to bad because I was actually beating Scott.
Then of course back to our place for drinks and pizza and that was my weekend. My weekends seem to be quite full really. I don't know the last time I had a weekend where I didn't do anything. Oh wait yeah I do, before Scott and I met and I would be home at my apartment bored out of my mind, with no money and no idea what to do.
Anyway this coming weekend I'm going home to see my parents cause well they get back from New York and I've missed them! I haven't seen them in four weeks almost!!!!! Thats bad when I'm usually home every weekend or very other.
Alright back to work, it sucks saying that!
Talk to you all again soon!

D'OH

Well it's Thursday and I'm finally getting to my Blog for the first time this week. How crazy is that? It's been a busy week!
This past weekend was amazing! We went camping up in Algonquin Park with Matt and Tanya and her brothers and their girlfriends from Ottawa, it was BEAUTIFUL! Scott and I couldn't leave until about 6 because I had to work until 5 Friday but I had Monday off which was great. So we stopped in Brampton quickly to see Mom and Dad and then hit the park just after dusk. Anyone who knows Algonquin knows it's the WORSE time to be hitting that park. So needless to say I almost hit TWO moose. I was pretty shaken knowing that if it hadn't been for no one coming the other way and being able to swirve into the on coming lane I would have hit them and we would have been toast. Can you imagine my little Hyundia Accent hitting not one but two moose? They we're full grown BUT they were still taller then my car.
We got rain every night we were there, which was great cause it made it perfect for sleeping. The rain didn't start until about 4am so we were all in bed by then. The temp. were crazy! But it was great having a lake RIGHT there. We spent the enitre day Sunday in the water, canoing and cliff diving, we did some hiking and swimming. The weekend was great, certainly eventful. Friday night we had some crazy guy visit us at the first night - loaded who Angie (Jamie's girlfriend) nicknamed "Johnny go Rape everyone" long story short he had a problem with following girls to the bathroom. That night we also had the "crazy shoe lady" visit us a couple times. Matt who is normally very very mellow, started to get upset so although I was sleeping, I decided it was probably best to step out of the tent and say something.
The second night we had the "park warden" as he called himself visit us. We were laughing to loud and he wasn't liking it, it was after all a SATURDAY night in the middle of no where and there was no need to be having a good time. Jamie literally got caught with his pants down and the guys were reminded of the "Comfort Stations" and to use them.
Our last night we watched a storm approach- sheet lightning from the distance and it was truely awesome. I've never seen such an amazing sight, stars everywhere and the sky lighting up every few seconds. The storm didn't hit us we got a little rain and that was all but we did have a visitor of the furry kind. Not sure what it was exactly cause I was not stupid enough to go looking but there was definitly something out there.
The drive home wasn't as intense, much more enjoyable. Scott and I took a different route because I wanted to stop and see my Big Bro Tim at the camp he's running for the summer. Jackson's Point- and for anyone who cares this is Jim Carrey's home town. Anyway it's along Lake Simcoe so we got drive along the lake front and it was so beautiful. We stopped for about an hour and took a swim and visited with Tim. It's was about half way so it was a great stopping point. I've decided that I definitly want to take that trip again before summer is over, the beach was amazing.
We didn't hit traffic in TO which was nice. I thought for sure we would but we just missed it. Thank god! For any of you who don't know. I DON'T have A/C in my car. Yeah great huh? 2005 BRAND NEW car, and I don't have A/C. THANKS SCOTT!!!! I guess I can't complain I do have a brand new car that really is mine even though it's Scott's, and he did buy it before we were dating so whatever. But with the tempatures this past week....AHHHHHHHH!!!! I should be driving his SUV with the power everything and A/C.
So after we got home Monday we had a terrible storm Monday night and one of our trees in the back yard is now split in half hanging over our neighbours garage. It's costing us $1000 to get it removed now. Our house insurance will cover 1/2 which is nice. I am SOOOOOO thankful my Dad nailed into me how important it was to have insurance. When we bought the house I made Scott get the insurance even though he was hesitant on it. I bet he's glad he did now. What's $40 a month when it covers everything should anything ever happen? And with no deductible. Being the smart one I also have additional life insurance on us both.... heee heee Of course Scott being with Canada Post he is worth much more then I am but still it's good to have that extra coverage just in case.

I had dinner last night with an old friend which was nice. We've been getting together about once a week for dinner or drinks I like spending time with and catching up on what's happened through the week.
And that's been my week thus far. No big plans for the weekend. Scott's been off all week and has taken care of all the house work including laundry which I soo love him for. Means I get to do NOHTING all weekend!! Whoo hoo! think I might go for a drive to visit my nan!
I'll keep you posted!

Manic Monday...

Well it's back to work, on a really crappy rainy day! I'm glad it didn't start until this morning. We were up at the cottage this weekend and it was gorgeous out. Went for a boat ride and a swim, then a mid night boat ride which was beautiful. I definitly got some sun, and a good weekend of relaxing. It was the perfect weather and the perfect rest before a long week. This weekend we'll be heading off to Algonquin for four nights to some heavy duty camping. I'm really looking forward to it. Although I'm sure the 4 hour drive with Scott will be interesting. He's such a baby in the car, not a traveller by any means! I think I may stop by to see the parents on the way home we'll see I guess what the time is like.
So it's back to work another long week I'm sure. I could sleep for hours right now! The fresh air really knocked me out yesterday it was awesome but it definitly took its toll on me.
Not much to say really.... I'm sure as the week goes on there'll be more though...

Friday, July 07, 2006

Well it's Friday, another week has flown by. Guess I shouldn't complain I'd much rather that then to have them drag on. Big plans for this weekend include getting the camping gear out, laundry and then up to the cottage with Matt and Tanya Saturday a night of relaxing and well earned rest on the lake and infront of a fire. It's great having a place to "escape" to that's only about 30 minutes away, yet when you're there you feel as though you're on the other side of the world. Even better to share it with such great friends. Matt and Tanya have really become family for Scott and I. Tanya and I work together all week and then most every weekend we're together as well. They usually show up during the week at least once for a BBQ as well, last night we had the torches going as well as the fire pit, it was a nice night although I did get eaten alive....and we had the neighbourhood kids come into the back yard asking for hot dogs. Yeah I know.... Our neighbour to the right Larry, has a little guy named Brandon who adores Scott. So he's over often to play basketball or video games. We usually take him with us for ice cream or pick him up some candy when we're out. Now we have his little girlfriend who comes over as well as when his friends are over playing they come too. Last night they saw the 4 of us in the backyard BBQ and decided they wanted hot dogs too.... Russ got to them first though and ate half their buns, and Scott's entire hamburger.
I swear we're Mr. & Mrs Rogers of the neighbourhood.
Well it's beautiful uot and it's Friday what can be better?!?! I'm out of the office in exactly 2 hours WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Is it really Wednesday already?? What is happening?!?! Before you know it the summer will be over. My weeks seem to be just flying by! Maybe I really am getting old...I tell Scott he's old since he'll be 30 in September, but maybe I'm getting old! Nahhhh!!! I am after all ONLY 26!
So this past weekend was a great long weekend! I spent my Canada Day helping the guys clean their music hall. Have I told you all about my 30 yrs old friends who think they're rock stars? Actually they're all Scott's friends (with the exception of Matt who will tell everyone he's my friend and NOT Scotts-even though they've been friends for 11 years) Yeah so they have a band Joel, Markus, Ryan and Matt and they play at the jam hall, as well as a few local clubs. Well Saturday we cleaned the jam hall for the first time ever I'm sure, I have to admit it's looking good. I might actually go down more often now.
I have to admit I still haven't found a better place to be July 1 then Ottawa...nothing beats Parliment Hill Fireworks, and Rideau Street in the middle of day!!! I miss that place!
And then I went home to visit the parents and niece and sister and bro-in-law. Of course we went shopping and I got into a little trouble but so did mom so that's okay. And then back to my homely duties of laundry and cleaning...
Why is it the minute after I've vaccumed and cleaned the entire house the dog rips apart a stuffed animal ALL OVER???
Well I'm already looking forward to the weekend, up the the cottage Saturday afternoon for the night. It'll be great to get away for a while and then only one week until we go camping!!! WHOO HOO!!!! That's all for me today...
